Good morning! How does this day find you?
It finds me just waking up after a heavy weekend in LA.  Since I don’t drink coffee anymore, have a long day ahead of me…
You have seen a meteoric rise in prominence over the past few years. How have you coped with the pressure?
Well in all honesty I haven’t experienced it as pressure. The travelling and change of lifestyle was something I needed to get used to, but I feel I’m totally adjusted now and ready to take it all to the next level. So far it’s all been one hell of a ride though!
Debuting in the Top 100 poll last year, how much consideration do you give these placings?
I try not to think about it too much, but it’s there and it’s needed. Last year was already more than I expected - seriously wouldn’t have a clue about this year.
Being known to give it some on the dancefloor as well as DJing, do you use this experience to craft your own sets?
What I always do is bring a variety of music that I like - but suits my style. Then I go early to events to catch the vibe of the night and see what’s going on.  Once there, I decide what I’m going to do and pretty much take it from there. Every crowd and country is different. So I’m always prepared, but I adjust within the boundaries of my style.
What do you attribute the mass of Dutch DJ talent to?
I think I should ask you, what’s up with the mass of UK talent? Ben Gold, Mat Zo, Ashley Wallbridge… There are so many and then you have the big guns.  Andy Moor, Gareth Emery for example! Sure we have loads of talent, but the past few years have seen the rise of many great stars from all over the world.
Any goings on musically in the coming months?
After I bought a new studio set up earlier this year, I started focussing on something new. The first solo single (Crossroads) will be released at the end of September. It is already getting massive support, so I could not have wished for anything better. Besides that the follow up to ‘Radiator’ is done and will also be released soon. Radiator went through the roof in every chart and playlist you can imagine. Even national radio, which was totally unexpected.
What is your weapon of choice when producing and why?
My thoughts and my ‘Virus TI 2.’ I’ve also switched to Logic 9 recently on Mac. I couldn’t be happier at the moment. All my productions were done in Cubase prior to this, but Logic gave me so much new inspiration to go along with. Brilliant!
If there was one thing you could change in the industry, what would it be?
I would try to make some people understand that we are all human beings. Just because you’re in the ‘scene,’ make a few records or pull a crowd doesn’t mean you’re super human!
One tune you will definitely be playing on Fri is…?
‘Crossroads.’ Also a bunch of other new shindigs from myself and others of course!
Finally, three words to describe your forthcoming set?
Energetic Melodically Fuelled!

Good day! How has your week been?
It has been hectic, we just had my very own beach event - 'Intuition Summer Festival' in the Netherlands. I've also been moving, closer to the airport (essential for DJs)!
How has 2010 been musically for you so far?
There have been some fantastic tunes out, I've been releasing some new tracks myself too (Better World, out now with a Jerome Isma-Ae remix). Really enjoying artists such as Arty, Who.is, Pryda and many others….
The best gig of the summer was…?
It's a tie between Global Gathering UK and Nature One in Germany!
Your Intuition Podcast is fast building a cult following. How does structuring this differ from club performances?
The podcast always feels a bit more like show and tell, I just play out records that I'm enjoying, they can potentially be a bit more laidback too. It's a great way to introduce the music I love to the world, showcasing new talent and hot records. In a club you have a lot more factors such as the DJs before and after you.  Also the vibe, the venue and whether you are having a good or a bad hair day!
What are the main problems when organising your ‘Intuition Summer’ festival?
Nothing too big, except for the venue burning down two weeks before the festival! Fortunately the owners were able to clear the grounds and put up a massive tent, bars, toilets and cloakrooms so that the show went on!
The ‘De Jong’ sound has been hailed as giving the scene a ‘refreshing’ overhaul. Where does your inspiration come from?
Anything in life can give you inspiration in music. Sometimes I'm inspired by the weather (although not often given Holland is as rainy as the UK), a movie, a pizza or holidays. I get especially inspired when I hang around Ibiza, such a lovely island!
What do you like best about The Gallery night?
It just f***king rocks!
If you were stranded on a desert island, the piece of DJ kit you would save is?
Probably a big bag of records. They could be very useful in fighting off wild animals and such!
What is coming from the Menno stable for 2011?
A new mix album, an album itself, singles, longer hair, more massive Intuition nights and bringing the best music I can find to parties all over the world!
Finally, give us one tune you will be playing on Friday?
‘Who.is - We.are’ on Anjunabeats.

Good day! How has your week been?
Hello there! We’ve been in the studio working on some remixes.
How has 2010 been musically for you so far?
We had a great year with the release of our ‘Back 2 Back’ compilation Vol. 4, a lot of remixes - like the only official remix for the Avatar soundtrack ‘I see you.’ Then recently a deluxe edition from our album ‘Sign Of The Times’ got released, offering nearly four hours of music in the download version - with awesome remixes from the likes of Arty, Cold Blue and George Acosta.  So we have been really happy how this year has gone! And the release schedule is not over yet, we have a very special release still in the pipeline, to be announced in the next few weeks.  Watch out, it will be big!
You were regular guests at Judgement Sundays this Summer. How did you find the season in general?
We had the feeling the Ibiza 2010 season was picking up from the year before, parties were full, crowds were following the DJ, definitely a season making appetite for 2011 already!
Latest release ‘London Rain’ always gets a great crowd reaction. What software did you use to produce the track – has it any downsides?
The whole track was produced with software plug-ins and on Logic, as all our tracks have been in the last few years.  For us the perfect set-up to work in the studio!
What are the advantages of DJing as the Cosmic Gate duo – rather than solo performances?
Always time for a drink and to party with the crowd, instead of searching for the next track in a hurry.
Name your favourite aspect of Ministry Of Sound?
We love the hospitality from the people behind the scenes, we always feel very welcome.  Plus the atmosphere of the club, it reminds us of the ninety’s a bit, we love it!
The tragic events of this year’s Love Parade caused shock round the world. Will this change your perception of playing the larger festival events?
Not at all, as tragic as it was.  It was bad circumstances that came together for this horrible tragedy.  Of course travelling around, we always have an open eye for what’s going on - but we love our job and want to enjoy things.  Going out and being afraid would not help - this counts also for places like airports and hotels.
What is the next big piece of DJ kit to hit the market?
Tell us and we will produce it!
What quality do you most admire about each other?
To respect the other guys “spleens” with a smile…
Finally, three words to describe your forthcoming set?
Crowd. Us. Party!

You have been together for just over a year. How did the idea come about?
It’s a concept that The Gallery approached us with. Tim, Dale and I have known each other for years, so we bounce off each other really well.
How would you best describe the D.A.T style?
If we're talking about style of music, it's a pretty broad mix of stuff really. Anything from tribally house to bumping techno, usually with a touch of melody thrown in for good measure. If we're talking clothing, Tim is a Shoreditch legend with his tighter than tight jeans, Anil is more or less sponsored by H&M, and Dale is most known for his Alan Tracey/Thunderbirds hair!
DJ trios are quite rare. What are the special considerations to make sure it works?
Guess it's understanding and respect, of each other's styles of music and way of playing. We have known each other for about eight years, producing and DJ'ing together for much of that time. Knowing how to use your three or four tracks to build into the next person's set, allows the sound to be cohesive rather than being very fragmented - which you often hear when DJs play back-to-back. At the end of the day it's enormous fun playing with your best friends and sharing all those moments, in a profession which can often be quite lonely. The hardest bits are often deciding who should be first to play any of our new productions!
What are the logistics when playing out – do you alternate, tune selection wise?
We just do whatever feels right, but usually it’s a three track on/off thing and it seems to work well! There is always a healthy dose of "one upmanship" behind the decks and we try to laugh at each other as much as possible.
Back last year you played a six hour back to back set in the 103. How do you approach these longer sessions to normal?
It’s great because we can really move in between different sounds. Kick off a little deeper, and head towards to the more banging stuff later on. With the odd classic, and obscure number thrown in for good measure, of course.
Do arguments ever occur, creatively or otherwise?!
Most of our arguments centre on whose turn it is to get the drinks in, and they can really escalate quickly. We've never actually hit each other…yet! Creatively speaking, although we each have quite different sounds from one another, we don't usually have trouble meeting in the middle when it comes to the direction of our tracks. You can hear influences from all of us in each of our tracks.
What is the latest news from the studio?
We’ve completed four tracks (over two Eps) for Nick Warren’s label, Hope Recordings – They’ve been received really well and we’ll be back in the studio very soon to work on some fresh beats.
Plans for 2011?
Working on some new material (maybe a couple of cheeky bootlegs) and continuing our residency at Ministry through the New Year. With a few tequilas along the way…
Finally, each of you give a word to describe the forthcoming set?
Dale:  Dynamite
Anil:   Ambiguous
Tim:   Tremendous

Good day sir, does this day find you well?
Very well indeed – thanks for asking!
How did you feel about your epic seven hour set back in June, did you enjoy?
Did I enjoy - hell yeah I enjoyed!  It was a rush from the first minute till the last. I think I’ve only seen a room fill up quicker once before. The doors opened and then WHAM! Nought to heaving in what seemed like two minutes! It really worked on a number of levels, not least though as I had all the new ‘Do You Dream?’ visuals to play with.  When you’re playing for seven hours you can really build, structure and program a whole night exactly as you wish to!
Some people say you bear a resemblance to the English performer, John Barrowman. What do you think?!
Ah John Barrowman, the guy who was voted ‘Number 3’ in Broadcast Magazine’s Hot 100 Talent of 2006? The one who sings, dances, acts, presents, judges – that one? The “unique talent in the British entertainment industry?” Actually I’m quoting completely from his website here – I’ve never heard of the guy before. They say that if someone does look like you, you’re the last person to be able to see it. Maybe something about the eyes.  Ah, I don’t know. I’ll ask around, get some more opinions and come back to you!
You live in America, but were born in Germany. How does the trance scene differ between the two?
Well I think per-capita there’s still much more in terms of weeklies going on in the States now. That’s mainly down to the US ‘getting’ trance a lot later than many areas of the world. As trance was effectively born in Germany its only natural that it’ll be fresher in areas it reaches the latest.
Tell us your worst DJ horror story...?
Way back at the start of the 80’s, I heard about this group of male and female DJs in their late teens - who were travelling across Montana or Arizona or some place. Anyway their camper van broke down in these hills, or by a lake or an old house. Luckily they had lots of beer with them so they started getting drunk, got the decks going, started throwing on some Dire Straits, Phil Collins, Steve Winwood – stuff like that, getting a real bangin’ party going on. Unfortunately they disturbed some local redneck hillbilly spirits from the dead, using this Ouija board shaped like a turntable who awoke and slaughtered the lot of them (using a variety of sharp, pointy garden implements).  There, if there’s a worse DJ horror story out there, I’ve yet to hear it!
Musically, what can we expect from you in 2011?
You know it’s just a little early to be talking about the finer points of 2011 in the here and now. We’ve still got five months of 2010 to go! Tell you what though I can say with near absolute certainty that there will be a new city compilation album in 2o11. You can have that as an exclusive!
What is your favourite non-dance song?
No favourites, it’s sort of a rule of mine. I’ve found in the past that if you come with anything other than a long-considered answer to ‘favourite’ questions, you can fall foul of yourself. You can look back and think ‘now why did I say that then when I’ve been reminded of so many other tracks since?’ Was that really fair? I could say maybe Pink Floyd’s ‘Money’ here but next week I’d hear something on the radio and think - no, that should have been the answer to that question!
Favourite tune on Coldharbour records?
Ooof! I could never! I don’t have one but even if I did, to say one would be to disrespect the ninety-nine others!
Finally, give us one tune you will definitely be playing on Friday?
Is it cheating to say Markus Schulz & Justine Suissa - ‘Perception’?

Good afternoon. Does this day find you well?
Can´t go wrong with a sunny day in Madrid!
Coming from Belgium, which is your preferred Belgian lager?
KARMELIET TRIPLE!
You bring your famed sound to The Gallery, renowned inherently as a trance night. How do you think the crowd differs with this scene compared to your usual domain?
Since I don´t have a residency at this time, I’m travelling all over so the setting isn’t unusual. With a great sound system and rocking crowd, I say my experiences at the Gallery have been excellent every time!
How will you approach your set at Ministry, different to normal?
Without preparation!
How does the North American scene differ to the London crowd?
Accent I guess, people get into the music all over the world…
Which do you prefer, downbeat warm up sets or playing peak time finales?
Depends what I have been booked for, all are very cool and I enjoy in different ways.
Having performed globally, which is your favourite party destination?
Russia seems have a good thing going right now.
Summer is drawing to an end. Best gig in the sun?
Rooftop parties in Madrid.
Tip for top breakthrough act in 2011?
Luis Junior
Finally, three words to describe your set on Friday?
Rolling bassline madness!

Hi Henry, how are you and where do we find you today?
I’m fine thanks! Just chilling out at home in Spain after a crazy week playing at Kazantip and Creamfields.
What are you up to at the moment, gigging or working in the studio?
Both things are great and essential in this work. But in my case after being out playing, what I need the most is to shut myself away in the studio, it´s something that I just need.
Which one do you prefer?
I love both, are completely different experiences though...
You seem to have a close relationship with Renaissance, how has it been working with such an iconic label?
Definitely a great thing, I felt very honoured when they came to me and gave me the opportunity of being part of their label - same as Bedrock, GU or other labels I work with.
What do you think of Ministry Of Sound as a venue?
I think it´s an amazing club and I love to play there, the sound in the booth of the main stage is one of the best in the world!
What sort of DJ setup do you use and why?
I used to DJ with CDs or Ableton, mainly the latter. You can do whatever you want with it, like playing infinite tracks at the same time, loops, FXs and all things you can´t do with just two vinyls. Obviously you can make the best set ever just with a basic old school DJ setup, but I think I got used to playing with Ableton in my livesets or studio.
Do you have much to say to vinyl ‘purists?’
I love vinyl, I love how it sounds, I love those big artworks and I don´t want it to disappear! But one thing is for sure, vinyl is not a handy format if you are constantly travelling and it´s not versatile. The kind of DJ set I can create with a computer or even with a couple of CD players with a loop function - is completely different to a vinyl set in terms of creativity. Just a question of taste though!
We have seen recently the rise of big DJs going slightly more ‘mainstream.’ Would you ever consider collaborating with an R’n’B/Pop star?
Ha, I think I know who you are talking about. Well, I’m actually a big fan of Kylie, Britney, Madonna.  I think you can do ‘mainstream’ or popular music with great quality, to be massive doesn’t necessary mean to suck.  But yes, most of the collaborations I hear of big DJs with mainstream artists are, in my opinion a soulless product just made for selling ringtones etc. But yes I definitely would love to do it trying something special.
What does the rest of the year have in store for you?
Gigs, finish some remixes and originals - and keep working on my album.  I’m putting lot of energy into it - and I want to release it early next year.

Good morning, had a good day so far?
Good morning. I have had a wonderful day so far, thanks. Hope you have too! Been in the studio for a moment, after I came back home from my gig in Russia. And I tried around with some beats and basslines…
Ministry of Sound is renowned globally. What are your fondest memories?
Absolutely. Ministry is cult. Stands for high class dance music and a great atmosphere for their parties. I confess that I’m a buyer of the “Clubbers Guide To Ibiza” series since almost day one. Guess I just need the first two issues and my box is complete!
Your productions span a variety of genres. Where does the inspiration come from for these different ideas?
Mainly it’s my mood when in the studio. I don’t think about too much of how I want to sound or where the inspiration comes from. It’s just the music I like myself.
How was it working with Gallery favourite, Jerome Isma-ae on the remix of ‘Salvation?’
I love to work with Jerome, he is a great inspiration. Our working process is like you have a brother next to you in studio.
Playing alongside Mauro on Friday, how has he influenced your career?
Well, Mauro was a pioneer in trance music. I was digging his music when younger. And he also made the transition these days to modern and clubby music, I didn’t see this coming!
With the recent release of yet more gadgets, the debate has been re-ignited about whether modern technology is taking the skill out of DJing. What is your view?
I think the modern technology offers more flexibility to a good DJ’s work. Of course it’s easier getting into it nowadays, but you still hear a big difference between a DJ that has real skills and experience - and someone that has just started.
Have you a preferred software for producing – has it any downsides?
I’m working on an old Logic version (5.5). I’m into it, I know every button and all tricks to manipulate the sound. I don’t know why I never upgraded, but it feels right to me. Downsides of course, are some plug-ins or software synths that cannot be installed on this version anymore.
What advice would you give the budding producers out there?
Have patience, and never give up. Once it will pay off, when you least expect!
What does the rest of 2010 hold musically?
I’m working on some new tracks for an EP around November - on my ‘in house’ label “Unreleased Digital.” There’s also a song called “Darkside” in pipeline with my Helvetic nerd buddy EDX, this one is scheduled for early September on the aforementioned label.
And finally, three words to describe your forthcoming Gallery set?
Don’t Miss It!

Good morning, had a good day so far?
Good morning to you, I have just been for lunch at Itaca beach bar in San Antonio. I’m here with my family now for the summer.
You will be playing the Gallery on Friday 13th. What is your unluckiest event when Djing?
Oh yes I forgot its Friday 13th, I’m quite superstitious too! The unluckiest is when the Traktor application closed unexpectedly.  There’s really nothing you can do, just restart the laptop and keep fingers crossed. Although this happened to me twice in one set, in Liverpool last year!
With a mega three hour set, do you approach this any differently?
In my opinion three hours should be a normal DJ set, but yes - a longer set gives the opportunity to create a great musical journey. I don’t prepare any differently, I just look forward to not having to cram lots of good music into a short period of time.
Ministry of Sound is renowned globally. What are your fondest memories?
I consider MOS an icon in the clubbing world and music industry. I remember my very first time entering MOS in London as a clubber around 20years ago and thinking maybe one day I'll play here! Et Voila, here I am…
With the recent release of yet more gadgets, the debate has been re-ignited about whether modern technology is taking the skill out of DJing. What is your view?
I like DJing with turntables more then CD. DJing with turntable makes you feel you are a real DJ. Technology just helps a good DJ to create more and be lighter during travelling. But as all technology, it needs to be used well- and in a creative way.
How is your ‘Come Together’ night going at Space in Ibiza?
For the first year and the first few weeks, the Come Together party has been great, better than all our expectations. Our support on the terrace will complete the idea of a festival in Space, which is one of the appealing concepts that drew me to the night in the first place. I think Ibiza has created a new night that will last a long time.
What elements of your acclaimed ‘Meganite’ have you lent to the new night?
The formula is the same, quality new house and techno music.  Nothing form the radio, pop chart or old. Music for real Ibiza clubbers and of course the after parties!
Your switch to a more eclectic style was met with raised eyebrows in some circles. Did this have an adverse effect on your morale or progression?
I'm pleased for what I did and I love more what I am doing now. I feel like a good chef in a quality restaurant, making more than a super commercial ‘Big Mac’ in McDonalds…
What does the rest of 2010 hold musically?
I like new challenges and I like to always push myself to experiment with new styles.  I can't do it any differently,  it is not in my vision of life style. I want to keep pushing the music from my album ‘2010’ and all the new mixes coming out.  Very excited about these!
And finally, three words to describe your forthcoming Gallery set?
Sexy-Energetic-Groovy.

The Gallery Members Interview 2 - Gavyn Mytchel     05/08/2010
read more

‘Gavyn’ actually means ‘white falcon.’ What similarities do you share with this bird of prey?
We both fly at high speed…
You used to train as a chef back in the day. Are there any similarities between the kitchen and DJ Booth?
They are both hot and sweaty, involving a lot of mixing!
The Gallery tour has seen you jet to many destinations – Bahrain, UAE, Russia to name but a few. How is the Gallery sound and brand received abroad?
Yes, it always goes down very well abroad as we bring that underground feel to the night.
The Gallery has a host of residents, both UK and International. What do you specifically look for when selecting these?
Whoever pays the most cash!
Your single ‘Dark Spark’ is released soon. What software did you use to produce – and how did you approach the track?
I used Logic at the Turnmills studio.  This was actually made about four years ago - but never gave it anyone. It’s coming out on Baroque Reocrds in November.
What do you think The Gallery has done differently, over clubs like Cream and Gatercrasher that are no longer with us?
We stayed away from releasing loads of CDs and doing excessive tours. Just focusing on the actual club nights every Friday at Turnmills - and now Ministry.
If you were to pick your most memorable Gallery night ever, it would be...?
The first time I played the main room at Turnmills - and the last time when it closed, playing all the massive trance anthems from 1999 to 2004.  It was quite emotional for me, as it was a massive part of my life at the time.
The famous SW4 Festival is fast approaching. Will you adapt your set for the big ‘outdoor’ experience?
The Viceroy and I are playing B2B for one hour (12pm – 1pm), so we will pretty much just get the party started with some classic tracks - to get that feel good factor.
Any special plans for the night in 2011?
Introducing loads more new talent, pushing the musical boundaries plus the usual big names!
Finally The Gallery members are renowned for their dedication to the night. Have you a message to the loyal fans?!
Keep on supporting us and we will make sure you are not disappointed for your weekly Friday fix!

The Thrillseekers Interview     03/08/2010
read more

Good morning, how has your week been?
Great so far thanks! I’ve been in the studio working on two different tracks.  A collaboration I'm doing with Ashley Tomberlin, and just wrapping up a remix for John O'Callaghan. So very busy at the moment, especially as I am moving house at the same time!
How has 2010 been musically for you so far?
2010 has actually been very busy for me, although it may not appear to - as most of the tracks I have been working on have been for my ‘Live Xtreme’ performances, or for my upcoming artist album.
Having been involved in the electronic scene for many years, how do you keep inspired to continue producing and performing?
It’s actually really easy to keep inspired because I absolutely love what I do! I can’t ever foresee a time where I won’t be in the studio making music. I feel much the same way about the performance element as well, which has the added bonus of traveling the world and meeting some amazing people. So, for as long as people want to see me I will be performing!
What laptop and software do you use for producing your music?
Well I have two MacBook Pros which I use for DJing and the live performances, but I tend not to produce that much on them. In the studio I’m on a Mac running Cubase. Over the last year or so we had a complete ‘studio spring clean’ and looked at every element to make sure we were getting the best performance. So after trying Logic Pro for months we eventually realised that it was all about Cubase 5 on the Mac, which just rocks!
With a prolific remix portfolio, which producer have you most enjoyed working with?
That would be Nick from ‘Chicane.’ I really love his music and always have - working with him kind of ticked a big box for me!
The Ibiza season is now in full swing. Do you think the island has as much appeal as, say five years ago?
Personally, I'll never get bored of Ibiza. It's got so much more to offer on top of the club scene, which I still happen to think is still one of the best places to party.
PVD rated ‘Synaesthesia’ his favourite Vandit release. How does this make you feel?
To hear the story was great! It made me re-live a lot of the excitement of the time, especially when Paul mentioned that he hadn’t even heard the track before he got on the plane - just to find out that when he played it in the club, the crowd went nuts! As you can imagine it was a very important time in my life. So for it to still get acknowledgment from others in the scene is very special for me.
Any new material in the pipeline production wise?
Absolutely! As I mentioned I am currently working on my artist album and involved in some really exciting vocal collaborations, so the pipeline can’t really get much fuller! Also I have a new collaboration with M.I.K.E called Effectual which has already received massive support over the past few weeks, including two plays on ASOT from Armin. It will be released on M.I.K.E's 'Club Elite' imprint on the 26th August and feature remixes from Robert Nickson, Deep Voices and Peetu S.
The perks of DJing are well documented, but are there any downsides?
Yes after a while the travelling can become very tiresome! Don’t get me wrong once you have arrived it’s amazing, it’s just the getting there which is the problem! Everyone has had that nightmare journey, the only difference is that DJs tend to have it two to three times a week! Other than that though, its got to be the best job in the world.
Cast your mind back to your first gig at Ministry, How did it feel?
Incredible! I was ridiculously nervous and it didn’t help that I had to mix out of Armin’s last record (which luckily went perfectly) so after that I got really into it and couldn’t believe how fortunate I was to be playing MOS. Good memories!

How do we find you today?
In the office - trying to get my new b**tard phone to work!
Tell us a little about what you have been up to of late?
I’ve been working on loads of new John Askew material - including a remix for Activa's new label which is out on 23rd August, a new single for JOC's label Subculture (which is out in September) and a new single for Aly & Fila's label - out in October. I'm also about to launch a brand new compilation series - the first one being released in November.
What can we expect from you this coming Friday at The Gallery?
Well I'm going to be road testing a lot of unheard material which I'm pretty excited about. I think I'm playing a lot of really energetic stuff with big melodies at the moment so hoping The Gallery crowd will be out in full effect - and ready for a thorough pounding!
What's been your three biggest tunes so far this summer?
Adam Foley "No Kontrol", Activa "The Fall" (John Askew remix), Mike Shiver & Susana "Give me Faith" (Vocal mix).
And finally the best piece of advice you have been given?
Get 'em young, treat 'em rough and tell 'em nothing!

Good morning! Does this day find you well?
Very! Just working on some drums for the new single.
We have witnessed a bit of a heatwave recently, how do you prefer to relax in the scorching sun?
By staying indoors, I’m a total winter person. I love the cold and the snow - it’s all about thick blankets!
So Spain triumphed in the World Cup. Do you think they were worthy winners?
Totally! Actually I really sat and watched this tournament, and in my limited football knowledge they seemed to be playing really well technically.
You made a London debut at our sister night ‘Vaccine.’ Would you say your musical style has changed since then?
Not hugely, it’s possibly evolved I guess.  I still say pretty hard and tough, but extremely melodic.
What can we expect from you studio wise in the coming months?
Originals as opposed to remixes for the second half of this year. Finally!
Prediction of biggest tune smashing it at the festivals this Summer?
No idea!
What does your label ‘Tytanium’ best represent musically?
Well the label is not even close to starting, mostly because I’m just REALLY choosy.  I feel bad that it is taking this long, but I’m not going to release pure rubbish like so many are these days.
The tune ‘Lift’ was always a firm favourite with The Gallery faithful. What was the inspiration behind the track?
Just to write a track that really drives and has a VERY simple melody, that is catchy and easy to remember.  That was the whole point of trying a melody like that.
Tell us your software weapon of choice when creating the trance masterpieces?
I’m a massive Logic fan.  I use mostly all the stuff that’s already included in the studio package, it does everything really!
And finally, three words to describe your forthcoming set on Friday? This time I don’t want to be playing what you expect, so let’s make it interesting!

Good morning! Does this day find you well?
Yes, the sun is shining and I’m just chilling! In my element so to say!
So Spain triumphed in the World Cup. Do you think they were worthy winners?
Yes, I thought that the Dutch were terrible and were just out to spoil the final.  England were a disappointment and that’s a shame. We can’t touch Spain for technically ability, shape and movement but an “on form” England would have put on a better show than Holland. That’s life I suppose!
After a stint with Sheffield Wednesday a while back, is it hard to see ‘The Owls’ suffering football wise?
Yes, I was professional for three years and was lucky enough to make a first team appearance in the Premier League. I was also the captain of the England Under 19’s team which made my mum proud! This being said, I am actually a Sheffield United fan, so I’m not too concerned about the Owls.
We have witnessed a bit of a heat wave recently, how do you prefer to relax in the scorching sun?
Sat on a sun longer with a cold beer, now that’s heaven. I think that Peroni would be the beer of choice and the Blue Marlin in Ibiza would be the location.
With an obvious passion for the music when DJing, how did you first get into trance?
My dance music virginity was actually taken by house music. It was really my involvement with Gatecrasher and seeing the likes of Sasha and Oakenfold rock the club that shaped the trance in me.
Obviously clubbers will always link to your Gatecrasher past. But with The Gallery still going strong as a weekly night - what sets it apart from the rest?
The fact that it is such an amazing event. The venue, the crowd and the talent on offer is unsurpassed globally. It would not be an understatement to say it’s probably the best club night in the world at the moment.
Prediction of biggest tune smashing it at the festivals this Summer?
I am tipping the Black Keys as the band of 2010, so anything by them.
What can we expect from you studio wise in the coming months?
I have just finished my next single on ‘Kill the Lights’ which will be released at the back end of summer and getting road tested by me out in Ibiza. I have not named it yet, but it features a male vocal which is a first for me. I think that it’s probably the best thing I have done to date….Excited!
Tell us about your Ibiza plans this year?
I’ll be out playing for the legendary Judgement Sundays again. This really is a great event and I love spending time on the Island.  I’m next out there on August bank holiday and am then staying on for a week’s holiday.
And finally, three words to describe your forthcoming set on Friday?
Vuvuzela!

Good afternoon sir. How has your week been?
Good but tiring. I’ve just got back from a two week tour of Australia - It was awesome! It’s now 4.30am - sitting at the airport waiting to go to Russia for Global Gathering - St Petersburg. I’m then off to Ibiza tomorrow for Judgement Sundays. Should be good!
Who influenced you to get into music?
Judge Jules.
Tell us the track that changed your life?
I reckon it was ‘Plastic Boy - Twixt.’ I loved that track and it’s the reason I loved trance so much. Back then Bonzai was my favourite label. I loved everything that came out on it!
What are you best known for?
God knows!
How was 2010 been for you so far?
Really good, I’ve been really busy!  The best year yet of Dj’ing by far and I’ve been playing some amazing events. Loved pretty much every gig I’ve done this year!
What have you been up to in the studio recently?
Nothing recently due to the fact that I’ve been travelling so much. I have lots of stuff in the pipeline to come out but, I’m currently finalising my label with Spinnin’. After that’s all set up I’ll be releasing these tracks.
Biggest tune in your box at the minute?
It’s difficult to say as each gig is different. For crowds that are knowledgeable, I’d probably say Aly & Fila’s remix of Max Graham or Greg Downey - Send the Gods.
You did your first Essential Mix at the end of last year. How has the response been since then?
Really good, thankfully. It was difficult to do, but a great achievement.
Gig of 2010 so far?
It’s tough to say, but probably Melbourne last weekend.
And what can the Gallery faithful expect from your set on Friday?
The usual mix of tech and trance!

Good afternoon! How has your week been?
Hi, the week has been busy but great, with the weather being hot here in Cairo.  We have imminent deadlines for music and working on an exciting new remix.  Also just released the extended mixes of our ‘Rising Sun’ album.
Who influenced you to get into music?
Well from a trance perspective back in the mid 1990’s, have to say that our influences included Paul Van Dyk, Chicane and The Thrillseekers.
What best describes your sound?
Uplifting, melodic driving trance!
How did you become to be DJ partners?
We are best friends, and shared the love of dance music - and it just evolved really. We share similar ideas and bounce off each other in the studio.
Being from Egypt, what is the electronic scene like over there?
The scene is very house music orientated, but trance is definitely growing.  We have our weekly radio show ‘Future Sound of Egypt’ on the main FM Station in Egypt, ‘Nile FM.’ This is creating more awareness of trance, and with us being the only Egyptian dance act in the ‘Top 100’ - has helped to create awareness in our home country.
How was 2010 been for you so far?
Has been amazing so far, travelling the world playing our music, meeting so many amazing people worldwide, we are so grateful for the support we receive from everyone! We are really happy with the music so far in 2010. From the originals off the album to the remixes such as Max Graham – Nothing Else Matters, we are working on other music to come soon too!
Friday sees a special album launch party at the Gallery. Tell us a bit more about it?
The Rising Sun album tour has reached other countries over the last month or so, this is first time in UK.  The album consists of fifteen originals, some collaborations with Activa / Philippe el Sisi and Bjorn Akesson. Also worked with some fantastic vocalists such as Sue McLaren, Senadee, Denise Rivera, Josie, Jass, Katherine Crowe and Tiff Lacey. The Album is out on Armada Music...
What have you been up to in the studio recently?
Working on club mixes for some of the downtempo album tracks and some new remixes for Max Graham, Solarstone. Also a new remix which we cannot announce yet, but we are sure the fans will be happy!
Biggest tune in your box at the minute?
That’s a toughie as there are so many great tracks out, our remix of Max Graham – Nothing Else Matters is doing really well, and Neptune Project remix of the Goldenscan track ‘Sunrise’ to name but a few.
And what can the Gallery faithful expect from your set on Friday?
An uplifting, melodic set with the usual Aly & Fila drive. Some new tracks off the album also, really looking forward to the event. See you all there!

Good morning! Does this day find you well?
Actually it’s the best morning I’ve had in ages!  The sun is shining, the weather is hot and I am about to go sunbathing and swimming - at a fat house in the country!
You started off DJ’ing as part of a duo. How does that differ to performing solo?
I can be selfish! Love it! It also means I don’t have to share the drinks tokens with anyone else.  It’s an ideal situation!
What have you been up to in the studio recently?
Well, I’m not going to lie...I’ve been extremely lazy in this respect. However Graeme Lloyd my studio partner has been really productive! He’s got a track in the Top 10 on Beatport last time I looked.
Which is the biggest tune in your box currently?
Definitely ‘AN21 & Max Vangelli’ – the remake of “Smack ma Bitch Up”, it destroys dancefloors!
A tune that you wished you had produced?
“We Come 1” – Faithless. In fact anything by Faithless!
Being a frequent visitor to our turntables, what do you like most about the Gallery?
100% the crowd.  There really is no place like it! Also the Gallery posse, all the people behind the club that make it so welcoming and special everytime I visit!  I am well up for playing in the Bar for the first Sync event too, alongside my old mate King Roc.  I’ve heard good things about their parties so should be a top night!
You had a show on Ministry of Sound Radio previously. What are the differences to DJ’ing in a club?
Freedom to play any tune -  old or new, slow or fast! Also the chance to introduce people to new sounds.  It’s easier on radio when you can explain a little about the producer rather than just dropping it on a dancefloor.
Which other female DJ do you most admire?
Sister Bliss. NO QUESTION! She rocks hard!
Tell us about the rest of your summer plans?
Well, lots of trips to Ibiza and various festivals.  Lots of work but it will be in the sunshine, so it’s all good!
And finally, three words to describe your forthcoming set on Friday?
IT GOES OFF!

Good morning! Does this day find you well?
Yes very well, I’m back in England for two months, the sun is shining and I had a great set at Glastonbury -  playing on the Glade stage before Sasha.  The best ‘Glasto’ I’ve been to so far!
What have you been up to in the studio recently?
I signed the last ‘Quivver’ release (‘Yeah Yeah' E.P) to Bedrock and it's done really well so far.
I’ve just finished the next Quivver single 'Orgazoid' which will probably come out on Bedrock too.
And I’ve also done two remixes due to come out in the next few weeks. One for ‘Dos 3000’ called the ‘Monaque E.P’ and one for Hernan and Soundexile called ‘Cripsis.’ Also a bootleg remix of Gwen Guthrie - 'Ain't Nothin' Going On But The Rent.'
A tune that you wished you had produced?
There’s hundreds but maybe a classic old techno track, like Joey Beltram’s 'Energy Flash.’
Which is the biggest tune in your box currently?
It varies from place to place but my personal favourite at the moment, is the ‘Save The Robot’ mix of 'Back Down' by Olivier Giacomotto on Definitive Recordings.
You have produced tunes under varying aliases. Where do you get your inspiration from?
I listen to a lot of different music, so I get inspired by all kinds of stuff. Other times I wake up with a tune or a bassline in my head and record it into my phone, then try to recreate it later in the studio. Sometimes they sounded better in my head, others (like with ‘Dancing In Darkrooms’) I’ll have the whole track planned out before I get to the studio, and it comes together double quick!
Are you looking forward to playing the Gallery this coming Friday?
Can't wait! I’ve been playing for The Gallery for about ten years now and it's still one of my favourite gigs. Loads of my friends always come out for The Gallery gigs so it makes them extra special - only problem this time, is I have to leave the club straight after my set and go to Heathrow - for an early morning flight to Moscow. So I can't hang out for long!
Which is your most memorable gig of all time?
There’s been a few but one that springs to mind, is a few years ago at Amnesia. It was packed and the vibe was amazing! I’d gone over with about fifteen mates and we had an absolute scream. Glastonbury this year was definitely up there too.
What’s the most played tune on your MP3 player?
Probably something by Brian Eno, I’ve made a playlist of stuff from all his ambient albums. I play this on repeat every night when I go to bed.
Tell us about the rest of your summer plans?
The day after the Gallery gig, I play in Russia then a festival in Ukraine - and another in Hungary. Then a gig in Bournemouth before heading back to LA in August.
And finally, three words to describe your forthcoming set on Friday?
Relentless throbbing grooves!

Good morning! Does this day find you well?
Very well thanks! Back from touring, enjoying two days off at home. Also recovering emotionally from the World Cup defeat to Germany!
You were born in Argentina, how does the London crowd differ to the clubbers back home?
South Americans are normally more enthusiastic than Europeans. But having said that, The Gallery crowd is absolutely AMAZING and there´s always a really good atmosphere in the club.
What have you been up to in the studio recently?
Did all the work for my Renaissance CD that has just come out - and also some stuff coming on my label ‘Sudbeat.’ Plus some remix stuff for other labels.
Which is the biggest tune in your box currently?
Impossible to say one! The new Herny Saiz tracks are rocking!
A tune that you wished you had produced?
A long list of course, but Guy Gerber´s “Knights Of Columbos” is today’s choice...
The last month has seen you travel to Hungary, Tunisia, Spain and the UAE. Which gig did you enjoy the most?
They are all different and exciting. Spain has been great lately and since I live in Barcelona, it feels like home. Then Tunisa has a really nice atmosphere every time, same for Dubai where I did Peppermint´s club anniversary - it was crazy! In Hungary I always play the Balaton festival, one of the best in the eastern European calendar for sure!
How do you adapt your sets when playing the main room at Ministry?
The Ministry is one of the best rooms in Europe, amazing in every way. So you only need to adapt or have in mind the other DJs playing, to make the sound flow. That's all really... For The Gallery, I normally play two hour sets, so you don´t have a lot of time to warm up - directly playing peak time stuff.
If not a DJ, what job would you most like?
Radio or music journalism.
Tell us about the rest of your summer plans?
All the way in Europe doing festivals and all the summer destinations like Ibiza, Greece, Italy for example – up until September. Then there is a Japan tour and more European shows. In between that, will make a quick trip to Argentina to present my Masters CD.
And finally, three words to describe your forthcoming set on Friday?
Will be great!

Good day to you sir. How are you?
Hi there! I'm very well today. Summer is shaping up nicely here in Sweden, so cannot complain.
How has 2010 been for you so far?
Music wise it's been my best year up until now! I got to remix artists like Rank 1 and Tiësto, something I only could dream about in the past. Several collaborations and solo tracks that were released recently, have been well received - so I'm definitely satisfied with the musical output. Also got a permanent post at my part time job.  That's definitely a plus in these hard times!
What can we expect from you musically in the coming months?
I have a few collaborations coming up, for example a tune with Artento Divini and one with Galen Behr. There are also three vocal tracks underway, plus my next release on Musical Madness called 'Timeline.' My remix of Tiësto feat Priscilla Ahn – ‘I Am Strong’ should be out soon too, so I'm really stoked to see the reactions there.
Are you looking forward to the collaboration night between ‘The Gallery’ and ‘Musical Madness?’
Definitely, I can't wait! My UK debut couldn't be at a better place! I haven't paid a visit to the venue before, but from what I've heard it will surely be a blast!
You have mixed the special ‘High Contrast’ CD for the Gallery night. How did you approach the mix?
I had a different mindset than when selecting tunes for my podcast for example. I set myself in the mood of playing at The Gallery - which tunes would I select to entertain the crowd in a one hour set? This obviously led to a selection of very dancefloor oriented stuff.  If you listen to the CD, you'll get a hint of what a Stenberg set sounds like these days!
Being an established resident on Marcel Woods ‘Musical Madness’ imprint, what is it like working with him?
Marcel has been my manager for over two years now and I can't think of any downsides of it so far! He's always honest and straightforward with his feedback and advice, also open to all musical approaches that can rock a dancefloor. What else can you wish for?  This year things have really started to move in the right direction.  I'm looking forward to a long and prosperous future with him and the rest of the 2-Dutch crew!
How did you get into your other work as a part time sales engineer?
Besides music I've been doing a five-year degree in biotech engineering.  Meanwhile my supervisor from an earlier summer job invented a device and started a new company. So that's where I did my degree work, which is the final part of my study - and got employed right after in the sales department. Social interaction with new people is really my cup of tea, so I enjoy it.  Maybe not as much as the music, but I think that's impossible!
What are your summer plans?
Apart from playing twice in Holland and visiting friends, studio time back home to record vocals and the Gallery gig.  I leave it open...Maybe I'm going on a spontaneous trip somewhere! I'm mainly looking forward to September, but I cannot reveal why just yet...
What is the best thing about being a DJ?
For me it's to be able to share my own music with the crowd and see them enjoy. That's really the most rewarding thing there is!
What can the Gallery faithful expect from your set on Friday?
A mixture of chunky beats and energetic sounds, some of my classic remixes and other recently released or just-finished tunes... Some other banging tech numbers will be in there too, that's for sure!

What is your favourite aspect about The Gallery and why has the night been so successful, over fifteen years?
God, favourite aspect!!! That’s a tough one.  I don’t know where to being with this. I suppose for me initially as a clubber - and now as a resident and promoter, it’s the attitude.  If it’s good music then f***ing lets have it, whether it be new DJs or mixing up line-ups to get that Gallery progression. The night has and is never afraid to let loose with what it likes, experiment and mix it right royally up.

I got my break by suggesting crazy new DJs and producers who I thought were right for The Gallery. Initially with Vaccine on a Thursday night at Turnmills - and then at The Gallery. If you look back over the 15 years of The Gallery and see some of the names who had either their debuts at The Gallery in London, or played some of their first gigs in the UK here - it’s astonishing. I found a flyer from 2005 for example which included lineups such as M.A.N.D.Y in T2 with Fandango, Valentino Kanzyiani, Smith & Selway and Adam Beyer all on one main room night. Also D Ramirez and Deepgroove in T2 all in the same month. Now those are not all names you would associate with the stereotypical view of The Gallery, but it is exactly for those reasons that I love The Gallery and believe it has been so successful over 15 years. To use a cliché – it’s all about the music and I think people respect that. Regulars and guests who come, there is a certain amount of trust that we will put on the best people for the best time, who play the best music.  ‘Excellence in the art of sound’ is actually a fitting mission statement for the night in many ways!

What makes the Gallery members so important to the night?
They are the backbone, the regulars, the people who keep it alive and keep coming back for more. Simple as that. Without them we simply could not be a weekly club night. I think they are amazing and personally for me many of them are the hard core I play to, for my closing sets each and every week. We simply could not do what we do without them - and every single one of them is massively important to us. We salute you!

As promoter of The Gallery, what are the toughest challenges in running the night in today’s economic climate?
I think it’s standing still, doing the usual, boring and predictable. We have seen many club nights come and go around the UK and beyond over the years. I hope we continue to offer a balance between the tried and tested, but also the future for dance fans all over the place. In continuing to do that I think we will ride the present economic climate out, if we stand still and play safe then we will loose that edge and those regulars.

Your remix of Ricky Fobis’ ‘No Regular’ always achieved a great crowd reaction. What software did you use to produce – and how did you approach the project
Was made in Logic and was done as I was a massive fan of the original.  Wanted to make a more up to date version, I’m really chuffed with the result and it gets great reactions still now. I have a whole host of new stuff on the way, been back in the studio with a vengeance including a wicked collab project with ‘Zirenz and Curve.’ It is a massive euphoric classical inspired trancer – perfect for those 6am moments!

Describe The Gallery sound in three words?
F***ed club music!

There was lots of hype regarding the launch of Pioneer’s CDJ-2000 – especially the compatibility with USB memory sticks. How often do you use this feature, and has the hype been realised?
You know I’ve only used it the once.  I have made the move over to using CDJs and the control discs along with Traktor, through my laptop. The reason being as a resident I have been keen for ages to have all my music, all my tracks at my finger tips for some time. For the past few years I have been bringing a huge CD wallet through of everything with me, as I enjoy dropping a few Gallery classics in my closing sets. I never quite know who I am going to follow and in what style, but now with Traktor I have the best of every world - still using the CDJ to mix with but having a whole hard drive of music sorted out into files.  Saying that the CDJ2000’s are very impressive and we are very lucky, that Ministry has six of them in the main room!

The yearly DJ Mag poll is approaching soon. Do you think this rank is important, or just a popularity contest?
It depends where and who you are. It is a mixture of both, but as much as people may say they don’t think it’s important, they will all still be campaigning for your votes – think that says it all!

Who is your next tip for big breakthrough act?
Jonas Stenberg is doing the business in a massive way at the moment!  You heard him here at The Gallery, this coming weekend first!

And finally, what are your summer plans?
Gallery each and every week. Then SW4 on August Bank Holiday which I cannot wait for – see you there I hope!

Good day to you sir. How are you?
I’m doing perfect, just got my hands on the official copy of the compilation ‘Musical Madness II.’   So hanging on the back of my chair listening!
How has 2010 been for you so far?
Extremely busy as the label is doing very well, and I’m on the road a lot to far away places across the globe. Nothing much to explain, everything is just perfect, career wise and also at home!
Are you looking forward to the collaboration night between ‘The Gallery’ and ‘Musical Madness?’
YES! My favourite place is always something to look forward to, I just love the vibe in MOS, and one of the best DJ booths in the world, so what more could I ask?
What can we expect from you musically in the coming months?
I’m busy with a collaboration - and they don’t come any BIGGER then this!  I’m not a fan of doing collaborations, but when this guy asked me I was very honoured...
What was the inspiration for your new album ‘Musical Madness?’
The music in all its glory! I just love music in a wide range of styles.  I try to teach people that they have to listen to music, and not judge music on the ‘genre tag’ that accompanies it.
Tell us about your most ‘mad’ experience whilst DJ’ing?
That would be one of my gigs long ago, when I played on a SM party.  I saw such extreme things, that I was happy to be in a closed and dark corner of the room, playing my music.
Your favourite thing about Ministry of Sound?
The people, the DJ booth and the sound system (in this order)!
What are your summer plans?
To enjoy more of the summer like ‘normal’ people, sometimes it’s just too crazy! Plane in, plane out, sleeping in the daytime.  I’d love to see more daylight!
You are training to be a pilot. How is that going?
Ha ha! I guess this came from my silly answers for DJ MAG last year.  I wish I had my own plane - hate those delays and awful flight times. So no training, just wishing...
What can the Gallery faithful expect from your set on Friday?
That I will drop a lot of musical madness and some new fresh tunes!

Good afternoon, how has the day been so far?
Andi: It’s 9.30am and we’ve just arrived at our studio in Leeds, but we’re both suffering a bit from a long weekend in Ibiza. At least we’re acclimatised to the heat. It’s about 35 degrees in the studio this morning – we’ve got no windows or air con either so it might be nude day down here by this afternoon...
Nick: ...Horrible image!

Summer is now in full swing. What would rate as your favourite BBQ tune?
Nick: That’s a tough one, but to get in the summer mood it would have to be Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince – Summertime.
Andi: Chris Rea – “Josephine,” always reminds me of Café Mambo in Ibiza and sounds amazing in the sun. Either that or Sabres of Paradise – Smokeblech II (Beatless mix). Proper Chillout!

On the subject of food, what is your favourite pre-set snack?
Nick: Good question – I had a bowl of nachos and chilli before our gig at Cream last week and they went down well with a cold beer.  You don’t want anything too heavy for obvious reasons...
Andi: I bet most DJs say sushi or something really cool don’t they? A big juicy burger for me.

Who is your tip to win the World Cup?
Andi: I’ve got Spain in the office sweepstake, so they’re worth a whopping thirty quid to me.
Nick: Argentina are looking strong as are Holland – you never know though, it’s a game of two halves etc.

Maelstrom has been going strong for nine years now. What sets it apart from other labels?
Nick: Having Tim Binns running the show!  In all seriousness, having worked with Tim on a number of projects he knows exactly what works and what doesn’t - and he pushes to get the full potential out of each track.

How would you best describe your musical style?
Andi: We play all kinds of house music from progressive to deep and techy to electro influenced stuff – right across the board.  It depends on what time and where we’re playing.  Then if you listen to my radio shows you’ll also get a bit of drum n bass, a touch of trance and some really underground filthy stuff too.

You formed ‘Electrik Playground’ two years ago. What would you say the night best represents?
Nick: We wanted to create a party with a ‘genreless’ music policy – where pretty much anything goes musically (within reason)!  It’s changing for the better now, but a couple of years ago the scene was getting far too anal with events playing ten hours of the same music, which I think started killing things.  I don’t like using clichés like “you will be taken on a music journey” but I suppose at Electrik Playground parties, you will be taken on a journey to the unknown. Where is the excitement in knowing exactly what you’re getting?

What’s the thing you most admire about each other?
Andi: Nick’s very good at the business side of things. He’s super organised, knows where we are every weekend, sorts all the bookings for the radio shows and generally gets stuff done.
Nick: Andi’s got a huge amount of creative talent, and always has different ideas for our music and sets. He’s got three Sony Awards under his belt to for the radio shows so he must be doing something right.

What have you been up to in Ibiza this year?
Nick: We’ve just come back from playing a fantastic gig for Cream at Amnesia.  We were initially down to play the terrace with Calvin Harris, but due to a French air strike Ferry Corsten couldn’t make it - so we played peak slot in the main room as well.  The great thing about Cream events is that the music style isn’t too pigeon-holed.
Andi: We obviously couldn’t fill in for Ferry by going on and playing banging trance, but the more uplifting and tougher end of the house stuff we play went down a storm. Check out the video diary on www.youtube.com/rileyanddurrantmusic

And what can the Gallery faithful expect from your set?
Andi: Like Nick said before, we like to do things a bit differently - so expect the unexpected. Some stuff you’ll know, some you won’t. All of it you’ll love!

Good afternoon, how has the day been so far?
All good thanks, just heading back to the UK as we speak after a really fun three date tour of California.

Summer is now in full swing. What would rate as your favourite BBQ tune?
Wham! – Club Tropicana. Oh yes!

On the subject of food, what is your favourite pre-set snack?
I don’t have a pre-set snack as such, but usually go for some local food before a set.   A pre-set Red Bull is more of a ritual, or necessity, if arriving after a long flight.

Who is your tip to win the World Cup?
I’m not a big football fan anymore.  I’m going to say England, (obviously was more of a hope)!  Euro 96 was our best chance in recent decades, we’ve not looked menacing enough since.

You’re off to Ibiza to play at Cream Amnesia this month, looking forward to it?
Very much!  This will be my first time playing at Amnesia, something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Always great to be in Ibiza!

Friday sees the launch of the second artist Album, ‘Harmonic Motion’.  What was your inspiration when producing the album?
With all the dance music I listen to week in week out, my inspiration comes mostly from what’s going on in the scene.  What’s working in my DJ sets also influences how I produce, as do the vocalists I’m working with.   I also had set myself a deadline for completion of the album which i also found very ‘inspiring,’ although I did go past it by a few weeks!

The lead single from the album “Live Forever,” features vocals from Emma Hewitt. What is it like working with her, did you ever have any arguments?
As is often the case, Emma and I didn’t meet in person to record the track.  In fact we are yet to meet in person! At the time Emma was based in Australia, so it made sense to do everything over the net.  Emma, let’s hook up soon!

Any early candidates for breakthrough DJ’s of 2011?
With it being a producer led scene, I’d have to go for the likes of Arty, Steve Brian, Ashley Wallbridge, Mat Zo, Tydi.  All are putting out some very tasty music at the moment.

And what can the Gallery faithful expect from your set?
I’ll be spinning plenty of tracks from ‘Harmonic Motion’.  I’ve tested a lot of them out already, but with this being a launch event, I’ll be showcasing many of them all together.   Expect some grooved, driving trance with electro tinges and some ethereal moments from me!

Good afternoon, how has the day been so far?
Just back from my Friday gig – and preparing for a massive festival near Moscow now. Really want to sleep, but first will answer all your questions!
Summer is now in full swing. What would rate as your favourite BBQ tune?
Hmmm...I think it’s ‘Kalinka-Malinka’ – A famous Russian folk song!
On the subject of food, what is your favourite pre-set snack?
To be honest I’m a big fan of pancakes! That’s my only favourite food.
Who is your tip to win the World Cup?
It’s not Russia for sure!
Maelstrom has been going strong for nine years now. What sets it apart from other labels?
They are all a team of professionals, who have been in the music business for many years.  That’s why they always know what people want - and how to deliver. This is the way the label works, making it really special for me!
Hailing from Russia, why do you think electronic music has become so popular there?
Because it has become popular all over the world. Electronic music – house, trance, techno or anything else – it’s the future!
Friday is part of a series of special label nights, in collaboration with the ‘The Gallery.’ How do you think this will add to the atmosphere?
All the DJ’s there have had their music released on Maelstrom over the years.  This makes the night a bit special for me.
The Gallery will be your Ministry debut. How are you feeling about gracing the famous turntables?
Really excited and sure it will be great – the line up is really impressive! Will listen to all DJ’s with pleasure and have a lot of fun in my set for sure!
What came first, the chicken or the egg?
I think the chicken!
And what can the Gallery faithful expect from your set?
There will be a lot of new stuff, including a few of my own productions.  Say somewhere between trance and progressive.  Hope to see you there!

Good afternoon!  What have you been up to today?
Hi guys, been a really busy day today sorting out releases for my Whartone label and also starting work on my new solo EP. I’m really enjoying time in the studio at the moment and spending pretty much every waking hour in there right now!

First record you ever bought?
I’d love to pretend it was something really cool like Sugar Hill Gang or Kraftwerk, but in reality it was an awful record by Aha called “Cry Wolf”- which I bought purely because a girl I fancied in school at the time was into them!

Your most favourite tune featured in an ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ compilation?
For me its got to be BT “Mercury and Solace” which features on the first CD I think – a timeless classic that blows me away every time I hear it.

Give us three big tunes from your box at the minute?
FM Radio Gods “333” (D Nox & Beckers Remix) [Baroque]
Paul Thomas, Sonny Wharton & Ant Brooks “Brass!” [Size]
Daniel Pereaux “Remember Who You Are” [Whartone]

Who would you most like to play a back to back set with?
To be honest, other than someone like Paul Thomas – there are not many people I’d feel comfortable playing back to back with.  I think I’m a bit too much of a control freak in the booth! Maybe Carl Cox would be fun – he’s  got the same kind of energy and we’d certainly have enough decks to go around then too!

What is your preferred software for producing music?
Logic is my weapon of choice – I love it!

Your tip to be the next big thing in the DJ world?
That’s a tricky one – there’s so many exciting new names blowing up right now. Ant Brooks is really coming into his own and also Organic DJs with their ‘4 decks & 2 mixers’ show – definitely worth checking these guys out.

Favourite drink whilst performing?
Being a lightweight I don’t drink very often, so probably a boring Orange Juice for me.

What are your plans for the rest of the summer?
The summer is looking full of festival adventures right now - I’m playing Guanoa Festival in Morocco as well as doing Isle Of Wight, Nozstock, Glade, Wickerman and Global Gathering over here. Lets keep our fingers crossed the weather stays as good!

What can the Gallery crowd expect from your set?
Two hours of energetic, fun and groovy, techy proggy house - with loops and acapellas layered on top.  I’ll be working my socks of behind the decks!

1. Label Bullet Points
Label Name – Black Hole Recordings

Year started - 1997

Website -www.blackholerecordings.com

Biggest release to date - Tiësto - Elements Of Life

Next release – Andy Duguid 'Miracle Moments' (2xCD mix compilation)

i) How did the ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ series of releases get started?
Originally we wanted to do an Ibiza style compilation with Tiësto, but keep it more open and not use the word 'Ibiza' in the title. 'In Search Of Sunrise' felt like a theme that would reflect on the Ibiza vibe, but still have a broader appeal.

ii) Why was Richard Durand chosen as the new figurehead of the series?
In my opinion Richard has all the qualities that were needed to take over the series, he's not only a great producer but also amazing playing to a crowd. We wanted someone who could take 'In Search Of Sunrise' and give it a nice new twist without losing the integrity of the series, and Richard did just so.

iii) What three up and coming artists are doing it for you?
First State has delivered a great album this summer on Magik Muzik.
Andy Duguid is great producer and we're releasing his debut mix comp soon.
Moonbeam; who would've thought this kind of talent would exist in the deep end of Russia :)

Good afternoon. What have you been up to today?
Nothing much! Just getting back on my feet after a fantastic weekend. Congratulations by the way for hosting such a fantastic festival.

How does it feel to be taking over the “ISOS” series from Tiesto?
Amazing! I’m very happy with the results and luckily the feedback has been fantastic.

Have you taken the ISOS compilation in a different direction musically?
I was lucky I had a huge selection on offer, when I was selecting tracks for the ISOS 8 compilation. Without changing the original concept, I tried to select tunes that I liked personally. Chances are that Tiesto would have selected different tracks for the album - but keeping in mind that Trance as a whole has changed a lot since the release of ‘ISOS 7’ two years ago, it’s hard to say where the real differences lie between Tiesto and myself…I think I’ll leave it up to the audience to make that call.

Your most favourite tune featured in an ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ compilation?
It’s hard to say. I have a few favourites, but I really love Zoo Brazil’s ‘There is Hope.’

You are playing a special extended set on Friday. Will you approach this different to normal?
I plan on playing a lot of new tracks from ‘ISOS 8,’ some of my new productions and a few new releases and promo’s.

Give us three big tunes from your box at the minute?
1  Zoo Brazil featuring Rasmus Kellerman - There Is Hope
2  Bart Claessen - Hartseer
3  Ronski Speed - Denva

What have you been up to in the studio recently?
A lot! At the moment I’m working on a new single.

What are your plans for the rest of the summer?
A lot of performing, especially now the ISOS tour has started. Aside from that I’ll be hitting the studio to work on some new productions. I hope to release a few new singles during the course of the year and possible an EP after the summer.

And finally, what can the Gallery crowd expect from your set?
HaHa! Crazy as usual! The atmosphere is indescribable every single time, so I’ve got some pretty high expectations. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

How did your label get started?
When I first joined Armada as an artist I had a lot of original music to present them. I had ideas about other artists I wanted to work with and remixes I wanted done. It was just a natural progression that it all turned into a label.

What was your first relase?
Markus Schulz feat Anita Kelsey - First Time

Whats the best piece of advice you ever received when setting up? ?
Make music from your heart, not necessarily what you think people want to hear. Make music that moves you.

What is your favourite original on the label? ?
A very tough question. I like them all, but if I had (under extreme duress!) to pick one I would go with Probspot’s ‘Blueberry’

Which remix is your favouite on the label?
I would have to say Santiago Nino’s remix of Hammer & Bennett’s Language. It was ahead of its time and ground breaking.

What three artists coming up are doing it for?
Arty, Rex Mundi & Jochen Miller

3 biggest tunes so far of the year?
Ummet Ozcan - Trinity, Max Graham - Sun In The Winter, Jochen Miller - Brace Yourself

What are your thoughts on The Gallery';s two month label showcase across June and July??
It's great to see not only the DJs being recognised for what they do for the scene but the labels that put out all this great music as well. If it wasn't for labels such as AVA, Anjunabeats, High Contrast, Maelstrom and the like, there really wouldn't be a strong trance scene.

Whats next up on the label?
My album ‘Do You Dream?; is being released  in June so we will be releasing singles from that over the summer.

Who new talent wise is really floating your boat?

Arty is really doing it for me lately. Every track the guy has out has something about it I love.

Good day sir, does this day find you well?
Very well indeed thanks mate, as I hope you are too.

Friday sees your label ‘Berwick Street Records’ take over the bar. What can the Gallery faithful expect?

Well it’s our 5th Birthday so this is THE BIG ONE!!… It’s going to be ACE and I cant wait to drop all my new material on such a solid sound system there!

How has the recession affected the business side of the label?

Being as we rely on music download sales as our main source of income I cant tell whether the slump in numbers is down to the recession and how much is down to internet piracy and kids mindlessly downloading and file sharing illegally. Either way it’s crippling us as a business.

Tell us your worst DJ horror story...?

Last minute cancellations! It’s tough enough out there at the moment without dodgy promoters / venues booking you and then after months of delay and promising to return the signed contract and deposit decide to pull the event a few days before without paying any kind of cancellation fee because they say they didn’t actually sign the contract! Especially when you’ve turned down other (and often much better) offers for the same date to honour their booking.

Who do you think is the most underrated DJ?

Alex Kenji… handy he’s playing for us then isn’t it?!

Musically, what can we expect from you this year?
I have a lot  of new material ready in the wings with releases coming out soon on Yoshitoshi, Nervous, Veryverywrongindeed, Dieb Audio + a few more of the labels I’ve always loved and respected but can’t let the cat out of the bag about just yet!. Then there are remixes ive done for Danny Howells, Sander Kleineberg, Michal Ho, Presslaboys, James Harcourt, Leftfield and Frankie Goes To Hollywood all coming out over the summer. As well as remixes that Andomat 3000, Pol_On, Michal Ho, Cashmere, Solee, Butch and the Presslaboys have done for me that will also all be hitting the dance floors soon… so it’s going to be a very busy summer this year!

What is your favourite non-dance song?

Seriously? There are soooooo many! I love Goldfrapp – Clowns when that single deep bass note hits… shudder! It was funny when I finally read the lyrics too – I had no idea!

What do the coming months hold for you?

I’m playing the main stage at SW4 on the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday which is very exciting…. Am already staring to work out what I want to play at that one!

Favourite tune on the ‘Berwick St’ label?

The Hang Drum Track Balearica mix is my favourite at the moment…  I still cant get enough of Manu’s sublime melody and now I’ve done my 10 minute sunset chillout mix, it takes it to a whole different level! Perfect for the poolside or those special sunset moments… I also just came across a video on youtube of Sasha opening his set with the Hangapella at his and Digweeds WMC boat party this year!

Give us one tune you will definitely be playing on Friday?

My new release on Tim Sheridan's Veryverywrongindeed label called Mississippi Disco! It's out this week and there was a lovely TOP TUNE 9/10 review of it in the latest edition of iDJ Magazine, which is nice. Also im going to drop my remix of Danny Howells latest release which came out this week on DJ Pierre's label.

Good morning, how has your week been?
Epic!  Just had ‘Karneval’ here in Berlin, three days of sunshine, crowd-wandering and drinking German beer.
The World Cup begins on Friday, who will you be supporting?
I'll be sporting a tasteful mohair waistcoat, with shimmery silver sequins and a feather boa.  Wait, what was the question?!
Being from Australia, what do you miss most about home when on your travels?
The word "Carn," which basically means ‘come on.’ For example "Are you gonna come out tonight?"  "Hmm, I don't know." "Caaaaarn."  That and my family/friends!
‘Anjuna Beach’ is in Goa, where the label gets its name. How was your recent tour of India?
Great - played four very unique and crazy parties, and had plenty of time to chill out in between.  India is always loads of fun to be honest!
You played the Anjuna event at Cream Ibiza last week. Any interesting tales?
That's actually in July :)
Gig of 2010 so far?
Leo Vegas in Hyderabad - great club with a kickass system, crowd going totally bonkers. What more can you ask for?  I think I ended up playing two hours overtime.
Name your favourite AnjunaBeats tune?
Super8 & Tab - Helsinki Scorchin' (Michael Cassette Remix).  "The UK Sound" by Chunk & Twist is a close second.
Known for your ‘darker’ sound on AnjunaDeep, are these harder to produce than more ‘euphoric’ tunes?
Actually the euphoric stuff is probably harder, as you have to spend a lot of time deliberating over chords and melodies to get them just right.
Which gadget could you not live without?
My laptop - to be fair, I'd be pretty screwed without it.
One word to describe your forthcoming set on Friday?
Elektroschadenfreiheitsbestätigung!

Good morning, how has your week been?
It’s been busy but productive, thanks.
The World Cup begins on Friday, who will you be supporting?
I’m not that big on sports, so the team that plays the most entertaining soccer.
Gig of 2010 so far?
Hmm, the first gig that came to mind was Moscow in April. While not the biggest show I’ve had this year, it exceeded my expectations simply because it was such a lovely, enthusiastic crowd -  and I met so many great people.
Name your favourite AnjunaBeats tune?
It’s a toss-up between Above & Beyond vs. Andy Moor, ‘Air for Life’ and ‘Aalto – 5’.
This will be your first time playing at Ministry on Friday. How are you feeling?
I’m super excited to be playing at Ministry but sad Andrew cannot make it.
Any new tunes in your box to look forward to?
Yes, quite a few actually. Andrew and I have three new singles in cue for release on Anjunadeep and we’re currently working on one more. On top of that, there are at least six new tracks on my debut album which is almost finished. To put things in contrast, that’s more new material than I’ve put out under the’ Anjuna’ umbrella since I signed in 2006.
How does it differ producing a tune solo than collaborating with each other?
When I work on things alone, I sometimes lose perspective. This rarely happens when I collaborate with someone. Brilliant guys like Andrew and Jaytech have a different approach and it benefits me by rebooting my inspiration, several times throughout the creative process.
What profession would you be in if not DJ’ing?
Since vampire, jedi and gigolo are not recognized professions, I’ve always loved the idea of being an actor or scriptwriter. I wouldn’t mind making big budget commercials or video games either!
Which gadget could you not live without?
I’m a laptop DJ so I’d have to say my MacBook Pro! Not really a gadget though, is it?
One word to describe your forthcoming set on Friday?
Passionate!

Good morning, how has your week been?
Ralph: Good and as always busy. We made the final mix-down of a remix we did for Vandit.  Been working on our next single too.
Steven: Also we recorded our monthly radio show Euphonic Sessions.

The World Cup begins on Friday, who will you be supporting?
Steven: Germany, of course!
Ralph: Germany. If Germany are eliminated before Holland (which hopefully won’t happen), then I will support the Dutch team. In general I will watch as many matches as possible.

Gig of 2010 so far?
Steven: From May, Euphonic meets Anjunabeats in Berlin.

Name your favourite Anjunabeats tune?
Ralph: Hard question. Honestly there are a couple hot favourites. Spontaneously for me Aalto '5.' This tune is already a couple of years old and still sounds fresh.
Steven: My classic tune would be Alt+F4 'Alt+F4'. Right now Mat Zo '24 Hours (Rank 1 Remix).'

Your record label ‘Euphonic’ was set up in 1997. What is the most important thing about running  this?
Steven: The flexibility to release our own stuff, very fast.

Having last played ‘The Gallery’ in February, what was your best moment of the night?
Ralph: Playing 'I Love You.'

The next month sees you jetting off to Israel, Czech Republic, Holland and Russia. What country yet to visit, would you most like to play?
Ralph: We have never played in Norway or Iceland. I would love to play there at a Midsummer party.

What is your advice for the budding producers out there?
Ralph: Even if it's very hard, try to find your own sound.

Which one gadget could you not live without?
Steven: Definitely the laptop. Without it travelling would be ineffectual. We check promos, work on new ideas, answer interview questions on long flights or while waiting at the airport.

One word to describe your forthcoming set on Friday?
Ralph: NeoTrance!
Steven: ENERGY!

Good morning, how has your week been?
Weird actually.  Very busy and negative half the time, and then a few good things saved it. So otherwise great!  Leon Bolier has flown me down to his city in Holland, so the week is getting better and better!
The World Cup begins on Friday, who will you be supporting?
Although Holland have a great team, I will of course support my own country Denmark, even though I’m tired of the coach we have. Too passive. He needs to go!
As well as DJ, you are also a talented snooker player. How did you get into the sport?
Well,  I watched the German Open and Masters in 1997 and 1998. I was instantly hooked.  John Higgins won in ‘97 and he was kind of my hero - Ronnie too. But now Higgins is maybe banned for life from the sport due to the bribe scandal. So at the moment my hero in snooker is Neil Robertson.
Gig of 2010 so far?
ASOT 450 and Trance Energy. Both had something unique to offer. The crowds were superb!
Name your favourite AnjunaBeats tune?
Can’t name one, so picking a few. Depends on my mood really:

POS – Remember (Summer Sun)
Lucas & Beltram – Trust Me (Ava Mea Remix)
Maor Levi – Lital
Mat Zo – Lost
Daniel Kandi - Child

A lot of other great tunes, but have a blank mind at the minute, So picking is tough!
How did you approach the mix for the special Gallery CD?
Well, I took a trackpool of around fifteen or sixteen tracks, and had to boil it down into one mix. Sorted them BPM wise, so that in MixMeister, the fit was best as possible for both Key and BPM. The planning of the order came within one hour actually. For some reason the keys all fitted each other really well, except for one or two tracks. Otherwise planning of it went smooth.

Made the first export of the tracklist on Mixmeister, and told Anjunabeats that if they liked the order and the mixing, I would use a couple of nights for mixing and editing in ‘Adobe Audition 1.5.’ It takes a long time mixing it there - Ableton is easier for sure!  But I don´t know that program so well, so Audition was the best solution for me. I´m really pleased with the end-result!
What would you say the hardest aspect of production is?
It varies for every individual producer to be honest. But for me it´s probably getting the right shape of sounds, since I use ‘Reason 3.04.’ It makes it hard to master ‘hi-ends’ and the spread of stereo in different directions. So it´s vital to have a good production result, even before mastering. As mastering a track can´t ‘save’ it, if messy in the mixing of stereo placement etc.

In Reason it just tends to take more time, but I still like it! Besides the mastering issues, Reason has easy beat sequencing.  Arrangement wise, you can move things around as desired. I wouldn´t recommend it to people that don´t have patience though. It takes a lot of time creating a good sound in there.
Your first single ‘Breathe’ was released on AnjunaBeats in 2006. What is it about the ‘Anjuna’ sound that makes it so unique?
I actually had a s**t life at the time of the making the first trance-tracks. I was a total mess, my apartment looked like a bomb site. I couldn´t function and was depressed. Breathe was one of my “getaways.”  I produced it a day after a mega-bender with a few friends. Usually when you wake up the morning after, everything sounds crap. But this one still sounded great, so I continued polishing and sent it to Anjunabeats.

After a few weeks of waiting, the guys contacted me - and it all started from there. Since then I’ve had positive changes to my persona. Getting gigs from 2007 to now, has opened me up massively as a human being. Trance has made me enjoy life again!
Which gadget could you not live without?
Reason 3 obviously! It´s a program you can have with you on the run! So producing on a laptop is no problem. I´m not really a gadget-guy, so I don´t know what else it should be - besides my MP3 player!  It can be a life-saver in the airport while waiting for flights!
One word to describe your forthcoming set on Friday?
FRESHERGETIC! Four or five new productions will be played. And the typical Kandi energy as you know me for!

Good morning, how has your week been?
Morning! It’s been a great week in the studio, I’ve finished a couple of new tracks which I’m going to test-drive for the first time at The Gallery on June 11th.
The World Cup begins on Friday, who will you be supporting?
I have to admit, I’ve actually got absolutely nothing to do with football. But as it turns out I will be in South Africa on June 15th for a gig in Johannesburg, so I’ll definitely try to catch a game while I’m down there.
You have lived in London for nineteen years, what is your most favourite aspect?
I can’t believe sometimes it’s been nineteen years already! But yes, I came over from Germany in 1990 because of the brilliant music scene in London, and that is still my favourite aspect about this city. The music industry here is massive - and probably still the most influential in the world. There’s so much creativity here, not only music-wise but also in fashion, design, film and all aspects of media and the arts.
Gig of 2010 so far?
There have been some great gigs so far this year, in Australia, Japan or America for example. But the one that stands out was in Russia last month, in a city called Kirov. Amazing night, the place went nuts!
Name your favourite AnjunaBeats tune?
There’s a relatively unknown track which I still regularly include in my sets, ‘Johan Vermeulen – Do Not Cross.’ I play it plus five or six BPM, raises the roof every time!
What was the biggest challenge in setting up your label ‘Noys Music?’
When I started my label all the releases were only on vinyl. So mastering, manufacturing and distribution was much more complicated, time consuming and also much more expensive than it is now - with everything being done digitally.
Which do you prefer – DJ’ing or production?
I love doing both, couldn’t live without one or the other. It’s great to have that balance between being in the studio during the week and working on tracks, and then jetting off at the weekend -  playing out the new productions and seeing how they go down in a club. And have a proper party in the process!
Classic tune of all time?
Slam – Positive Education
Which gadget could you not live without?
Has to be my iPhone!
One word to describe your forthcoming set on Friday?
Wunderbar!

AVA Recordings label boss Andy Moor

Ahead of our first label showcase this coming Friday label boss Andy Moor has compiled the five top selling AVA recordings releases to date as well as providing an insight into the label and its ethos"Putting a mix together of AVA recordings material has been something I've been looking forward to since I started the label back in 2006. We have always focused on good quality music that will stand the test of time, so putting this mix together of old and new tracks has been enjoyable and goes to show how that theory is progressing. It has been no secret that The Gallery is one of my favourite places to play, representing quality production, attention to detail, enthusiasm and passion. For these reasons and many more I am pleased to present this collaboration between The Gallery and AVA recordings.

There are exciting times ahead with the label, with artists such as Ashley Wallbridge (a local talent), tyDi and many others with incredible futures ahead of them committing with solid releases. All of the artists are not content with producing the same old same old. They are innovators and the industry has taken notice of what we are doing. In 2009 AVA joined forces with Armada in a combined effort to expand on the AVA family for both our artists and the fans. AVA will always remain a personable label with my passion and dedication to A & R and the sound of tomorrow.”

Orkidea - Metaverse (Gareth Emery remix)

Morning, how does The Gallery find you today?

I’m just in the studio working on a new track with my wife Amanda. Although getting evil looks for taking my concentration away from the tune and typing!

So since we saw you last, what have you been up to?

Over the past few weeks I’ve been to the USA, battling my way through the ash cloud and ‘BA’ strikes. Despite all that stress, it’s been a really strong few weeks for gigs and new music.

What are your plans for the Summer ahead?

I’m getting my tunes in order for Judgement Sundays in Ibiza, which opens on June 13th. So near, yet so far away...

What are your top three tunes of the moment?

Shy  Brothers– Recharge

Heatbeat & Exit – Go (J.O.C Remix)

Mat Zo – The Found

Which new face is your top tip currently?

Mat Zo, who is signed to Above & Beyond’s AnjunaBeats.  He used to be a D&B producer which makes his tracks very unique and out of the box.

And your favourite ever summer holiday and why?

For as long as I can remember, my summer holidays have been spent in Ibiza. It’s not your traditional ‘holiday,’ as I live there for 2-3 months - reluctantly leaving ‘La Isla Blanca’ when overseas duty calls.

What can we expect from you this Friday at The Gallery?

In the run up to Ibiza I’ve been working on a couple of new tracks, one of which will get its first play this week.  I’m biting my nails hoping it works!  When road testing tunes, the dancefloor can be your harshest critic or best friend!

Morning, how does The Gallery find you today?
Thanks for asking, we are in Mexico - playing gigs for a Boombox tour. So we are pretty good as it’s not as cold as in Europe at the moment!

So since we saw you last, what have you been up to?
We released the fourth chapter of our own mix CD ‘Back 2 Back,’ including our latest single ‘Barra.’ We did a remix of the theme for the most successful movie of all time ‘Avatar.’ Of course, we have been busy touring the world also.

What are your plans for the Summer ahead?
We have an exciting schedule for the summer, bringing us to South Africa for a three gig tour during the World Cup. Looking forward to our first China tour in August, several gigs in North and South America. Not forgetting Europe, including some nice festivals and three Ibiza gigs. For more info, check our tour dates on ‘cosmic-gate.de’

What are your top three tunes of the moment?
1. James Horner – Avatar Theme (Cosmic Gate Remix)
2. Nic Chagall - Morninglight
3. Mat Zo - 24 hours (Rank 1 Remix)

Which new face is your current top tip?
Ashley Wallbridge has done some great tunes over the last year.  He is the most up and coming guy in the trance scene for sure!

And your favourite ever summer holiday and why?
Ibiza, it’s the perfect mix of great parties, but also chilling places.  We always take the ferry for one day to relax on Formentera. The restaurants are great, beaches are nice - always a great option for us to combine the job with some private time. We love it!

What can we expect from you this Friday at The Gallery?
We don’t like to plan too much in advance for a gig.  Too many things can go wrong! We prefer to be spontaneous and go with the flow. But for sure we will play an energetic set, with some new and classic tunes from us. So don’t miss it!

Morning, how does The Gallery find you today?

Everything is well, I'm very happy to be heading to the Gallery on the 21st of May, very excited to come and play in London in this mythical club where we're going to do a great Space Invaders party

So since we saw you last what have you been up to?

I'm working on a new album which will drop soon on Dim Mak Records. I'm also working on a new concept for my next show with the premiere of that show being on the 4th of June during the Australian tour. Then i'll be able to export and play pretty much everywhere soon for this new world tour. So there has been lots of work between writing a new album and preparing a full new show, which has lots of new collaborations with vocalists.

What can we expect from you this Friday at The Gallery?

Get ready for lots of new tracks and first plays in London!

What are your plans for the Summer ahead?

Summer is the busiest period for a DJ, I think i'll be doing about 60 shows more or less in a row all over the world, among those will be festivals, including this new show which is called Invasion 2010, which I am lucky to be able to put up on stage with audio and video, which will be a whole new thing because it is the first time i'll be able to control both audio and video at the same time in syncronisation, but still remaining flexible and being able to do a real DJ's work with vocalists on stage.

What is your top three tunes of the moment?

My first one is "We Are the Future" a new track i've recorded in collaboration with Poet Name Life. Second favorite right now would be "Rubb It In" by Fierce Ruling Diva and the third favorite track would be "Lyposuct" by D.I.M & Tai.

Which new face is your top tip currently?

Right now I really like Steve Aoki for his energy on stage and his ability to let go and entertain the crowd.

And you favourite ever summer holiday and why?

I would have to say my favorite trip each year is the Burning Man festival that I am lucky to go play in Nevada. It really is one of my favorite places to play and attend.
